Back yard fun

A visit from Granny

Granny arrived safe and sound from England yesterday. Despite Eoin not seeing Granny for about 18 months you would swear no more than a day had gone by. Eoin welcomed Granny with hugs and kisses and has even decided that Granny has to give all 'boo boo kisses' to make him feel better.

It is great to have Granny here and Eoin is loving the extra attention!

Calming Down

In the last few weeks Eoin has started having a lot of tantrums and so we created a little 'calming down' spot for him. Eoin picked the space behind the chair in his bedroom and then added Sappho (the cat) super soft and warm cushion. Then he added a box of Usbourne Touchy Feely books all of which he can read to himself.

Now when we see a tantrum coming we ask him does he need to go and calm down and normally he will take himself off and sit for a while. We have also noticed that he goes in there when a playdate gets a little too loud or long.

Feelin' hot hot hot

The heat had finally arrived. It was in the high 80's yesterday. It was just like someone flipped a switch and suddenly it was hot. We went to do one of our regular walks and only made it a third of the way before Eoin (and Mommy and Daddy) got to hot and so we headed for ice-cream.

Go England!

While we have to get up very early to watch many of the England games Eoin still manages to relax and enjoy the games. I really wanted to get a USA t-shirt two and combine the England and USA shirts to make Eoin a unique supporters shirt but I couldn't find a (cheap) USA shirt in time.

Leapfrog

Andy and Eoin playing leapfrog while out for a walk this afternoon. As you can see the pink stroller still has to come everywhere with us!

The Beginnings....

I have launched a new photoblog for my 'non-family' photos. For a long time I have had an interest in photography. As a young adult I fell in love with the photography of Giles Norman, an exceptional photographer from my home town of Kinsale, Ireland. Finally in my thirties I find the need to create a hobby that combines my wish to develop my photography skills and a need to carve a little me time into my life. So here begins yet another photoblog from yet another amateur photographer. I hope that you enjoy my images and my journey towards (hopefully) becoming a fraction of the amazing photographer that was my inspiration.

Do plants eat apples?

Eoin and I were talking today about how you have to feed plants to help them grow. Well this lead to him to share his apple with his little plant that he has been growing the last few weeks.

Holiday weekend fun

It was great to have Andy back safe and sound from his work trip and what made it even better was that it was a holiday weekend - yippee!

We started our weekend by looking at some new neighborhoods that we might like to move too. We really liked Sunnyvale. It has tons of parks and good schools. So the hunt is one for a great house for us all.

In the afternoon on Sunday we headed down route 1 and went strawberry picking. Eoin had a great time looking under all the leaves for strawberries. The strawberries are always extra yummy when they are just a little warm from the sun and straight of the plant.

On Monday morning we headed back over the hills to one of Eoin's favorite spots - Niles Canyon Railway. On this occasion they had a steam engine running. Eoin was fascinated by the engine but I think he found the train whistle just a little too loud.

We finished our weekend off at our local park and we had fun as a family playing soccer and zipping down the slides.
