Does he dare.....
Does he dare pull Sappho's tail? The cat is asking for her tail to be pulled especially as Eoin has now worked out that he can roll to get to where he wants!

Ummm breakfast
Eoin is now eating two solid meals a day and is down to three or four six ounce bottles a day. We give him some water too when he wants it. His favorite foods so far are bananas and sweet potatoes and he will generally eat about four ounces at a feeding. He makes the best 'ummm' noises while he eats and is very good at opening his mouth!

Picnic at the beach
Five months old
Eoin is five months old today and wow has he grown and changed in those five months. He is now eating solid food and really enjoying it. Eoin has tried sweet potatoes, apples and bananas. Eoin is weighing in at just over 20lbs and is 27 inches long.
Eoin is almost rolling from his back to his tummy and can now scoot around on both his back and tummy by pushing with his legs. He is really enjoying his books now and loves to have stories read. He helps by turning the page over. Eoin's favorite song is Head Shoulders Knees and Toes and he pulls your hands to his head when you finish to tell you to start again.
Eoin still loves going to the park and playing on the swings but just as much he loves to watch the other kids playing. He is very social and likes his play dates with his friends. He will talk to them and try and grab their hands. He has also discovered Sappho the cat and likes to stroke her. Sappho is very patient and lets him do what ever he likes to her.

Day out
Andy took a days vacation today and we went off to Muir Woods. Eoin loved being outdoors and talked the whole way round the park. He kept leaning back and looking at the trees.
We had a picnic lunch on Muir Beach and Eoin's grandparents were brave enough to dip their toes into the Pacific but it's much much colder than the Atlantic back home!

Happy Birthday Mom!
Thanks to all you guys for sending me birthday wishes. We had a great time out last night at one of our favorite places in town. After dinner we all came home and kept celebrating with Katie, Liz and Max. Mommy is a little worse for wear today but hey you are only 31 once!
We had another reason to celebrate too - the end of our social worker visits. We have fulfilled all the criteria for adopting Eoin and now we just have to wait for his six month birthday and then we can go to court to finalize.

Double Trouble
We had so much fun today at the park with our friends Max and Liz. Max and Eoin love spending time together and are so cute with each other. They talk to each other and try and grab each other's hands. We keep wondering if they can understand each other. They loved swinging together - we thought they looked just like a push-me-pull-you from Dr Doolittle. This is such a great way to swing when the park is busy. We first tired this out a week ago with our little friend Anthony and it works so well.
Nap time
This week's task is to teach Eoin to take his naps on his own and not in Mommy's arms. So today was the beginning of 'independent nap boot camp'.
Eoin's first nap of the day was in his stroller as we had errands to run but right now he is in his crib asleep (well he keeps stirring but he is asleep for the most part). I downloaded some white noise and that is playing on a loop on his IPod, he has his blankee and dumbly (Pomianowski name for a pacifier) and so I hope now that he is asleep he will get at least an hour. Mind he complained for half and hour before he feel asleep. What did it in the end was that I stroked his nose for five minutes and that helped him drop off.
Once he has nap time in his crib down we will start thinking about moving him in there for the night but one step at a time!
I don't know if this is going to be harder for him or me - I loved having all that cuddle time but it was just becoming very impractical. Right he is stirring again so off to settle him down again.

Sunny Day
We had a fun afternoon together in the park today. It has been such great weather (sorry you guys back home who are battling storms! Come visit and get some California sun) that we decided to pack a picnic lunch and hang out at the park just round the corner from our house. The temperature is perfect at the moment warm by day and not too hot to sleep at night. Eoin loves being out doors and frankly complains if he doesn't get to go out at least twice a day. He even recognizes the park now and gets excited because he knows he gets to go in the swings.

Almost rolling over
Eoin is almost rolling from his back to his tummy. He has rolled from his tummy to his back once before but as he doesn't much like tummy time my guess is that he will roll from back to tummy regularly first.
Tummy Time
Eoin doesn't much like tummy time but he is getting better at it. He now moves himself around by kicking his legs whether he's on his tummy or back. If he is on his back he can move quite a distance now, in fact the other day he managed to get half way across his room.
