Music Man
Today was grey and wet and so we pulled out all our recorders (I have five but Eoin prefer the two largest ones). Eoin and I played with the recorders and his other instruments for over two hours much of which was spent playing 'marching band'. Eoin played the recorder very loudly and I banged on a drum just as loudly as we marched all round the house ;-)
After a little while we settled and played the 'violin'. Eoin sat on a basket and concentrated very hard and played his 'violin'. The best bit was not only the look on concentration on his face but his humming along to the music he was playing.

Two and a half
Eoin is 2 1/2 today. Everyone keeps telling me that he will slow down on the growing front soon and I sure do hope so because right now he is on 100 percentile for both growth and weight but the interesting thing is when you plot his weight for his height he drops down to the 75 percentile. Eoin stands 40 inches tall (101.6 cm or 3.33 ft) and weighs anywhere between 40 and 42 lbs (18 kg - 19 kgs). Eoin went to the dentist yesterday and his teeth are in great shape apart from the fact that there is still no sign of his two year molars.
Eoin continues to be very sporty. He is riding a regular bike now with training wheels of course. He can swim unaided for about 5 meters. He can bounce a ball two or three times and kick it miles. We are still working on catching a ball though. He loves to climb the monkey bars but still won't swing on a regular swing - go figure!
Verbally we now have full on conversations and we can reason with him. He can now say his ABC's count to 12 in English and 6 in Spanish. Eoin also has favorite songs which he requests often and can sing along to them. Oh and he can now recite some of his favorite books too.
Discipline and behavior are improving hugely. We are still using the naughty spot but also using a sticker chart as a reward system.
Eoin has also really begun to play with other kids. Not just play along side them but now he actually plays with them which is so great to see. Most times he remembers to stop and ask a kid/grown-up if he can play with their toys and he excels and trading toys so that he can get the toy he wants. I can't wait to see how he does when he starts pre-school in September :-)
And apart from all this Eoin continues to be a regular two year old with the occasional tantrum and lots of mischief (I just found him squirting toothpaste everywhere!).

Sleep, sleep and more sleep
After a quick chat with a friend back home I realized that I had neglected to post about the transformation in Eoin's sleep routine! Two weeks ago Eoin woke up one morning and told us he wanted a big boy bed. So we set up his toddler bed and well that has been it. No drama, no getting out of bed and a MUCH better nights sleep. In fact we have gone from Eoin climbing out of his crib four or five times a night to him only getting up once a night. All this sleep sure does make for one happier Mommy and definitely a happier little boy too!

Early Mother's Day prezzie
Today Andy treated me to my Mother's Day present early - a new SLR camera. I eventually settled on the Canon Rebel XS. It has a few less mega pixels then I would have liked at only 10.1 but other than that I love the camera!
We spent the afternoon at our friends house and it was a great opportunity to get acquainted with my new camera. Having taken about 119 photos I think I had 18 that I would keep. I definitely need to set up on of the manual settings for bright sun as this seemed to be the biggest problem. Otherwise I am loving my camera and lens :-)

Family Day Out
Yesterday we enjoyed the warm weather and headed to Vasona Park in Los Gatos. Eoin would live at this park if he could as it was a little train that chuffs around the park. Eoin ran from one train barrier to the next and waved to everyone on the train. We rode it twice but honestly Eoin had more fun with the barriers.
This kid truly is train barrier crazy! Every stick on a path, every drinking straw or pen becomes a train barrier and if he hasn't got any of them handy he just uses his arms to be train barriers. Walking the one block to our local park has turned into a 20 minute journey now because I have to be a train and wait for train barriers and lights to be in my favor!

Popcorn
Since Eoin was about a month old he has gone to the our local chiropractors with me to get adjusted. Initially he was adjusted every week for constipation and now he gets adjusted once a month just to keep him all tuned up. However if he ever has a cold or an ear infection we are right there for an adjustment that always seems to reduce a fever or help his ears drain. Dr Erika gets Eoin to lay down on the table (or sit) and he has to listen out for the popcorn in his neck and back. Eoin loves it and always giggles when he hears the small tiny pops.
Now me on the other hand I have to get adjusted at least once a week so that I can keep up with Eoin. Rough and tumbling with a 40lb two year old sure does reek havoc on your shoulders and spine!

Princess Eoin
Eoin has really started to enjoy dressing up especially in Princess clothes. He puts the dress on and then looks at me and states - 'I'm beautiful now'. I love the fact though that in one photo Eoin might be in a dress and high heels but he still wipes his nose on the back of his hand like a true boy ;-)
