Leaving the trains behind

From the age of 1 Eoin has been fascinated by trains. Our lives revolved around many train activities. Evening walks would be along the side of the train tracks so he could watch the commuter trains and barriers operate. In the last year however Eoin has started to leave trains behind him and focus on big machines. We turned the underneath of his play structure into a quarry where he loves to play with his construction vehicles. Lego is also a huge hobby. Everyday there is a new engineering feat being created.  Now when it comes to standing on a toy in a dark room a train is much less painful then lego!

Ziplining

Right at the end of our holiday Eoin was beyond excited to complete a zip lining course. Our friends joined us and everyone had a blast. Eoin has wanted to do this for nearly a year and so it may have been the highlight of the trip for him. I really wish we could find somewhere local that had a similar course.

Surf Lessons

Uncle JP loves to surf and Eoin loves the water and so it was a perfect time for a surf lesson. The only problem - the sea was the flattest I think I have ever seen it! But I guess it was perfect for a beginner as Eoin can now stand on a surf board (well for about 2 seconds but that is more than I can do!).

Even the dogs had a go!

Dinner Simpson style

Dinner Simpson family style.
A very rare thing happened on the first weekend of our vacation . All of my brothers along with their wives, partners, kids and dogs were all together at my parents. I think that we worked out that it had been at least 7 years since this had happened. It was the perfect time to celebrate Peter's 30th birthday with a tasty BBQ and home cooked food. As the photos will show a good time was had by all!

Eoin horseriding

We have just returned from a fantastic three week vacation in Ireland and England where we got the chance to visit with family. There were many highlights but one of the big ones for Eoin was horse riding. Andy's sister is an accomplished rider and teacher and so it was the perfect time to introduce Eoin to horses. We weren't sure how he would react but it turned out to be a calming and sensory grounding experience. We hope to continue his lessons here in California.
