My Hero is......

.... Daddy. Eoin loves his Daddy so much! Eoin's shoes are found right beside Daddy's shoes at the end of our bed. When Eoin grows up he wants to have a beard like Daddy. On the evenings and at the weekends Eoin is Daddy's shadow. It is so fantastic to watch!

Draggy the Dragon

The other day while at a great little kids clothes store, Eoin managed to charm the owner into giving him this red dragon soft toy. Yes she gave it to him FREE! Man this little guy knows how to charm the ladies. Anyhow Draggy as the dragon has been named has not left his side for 48 hours. Last night everything had to be done twice. Eoin got a hug and kiss good night and so did Draggy. Eoin had his Guardian Angel prayer said so did Draggy. Eoin got tucked in so did Draggy (in fact Draggy got his own pillow and blanket). When Eoin rolled over onto his side we had to roll Draggy over. And so it goes on. Then it came to Eoin closing his eyes and well Draggy doesn't close his eyes. We were on the verge of tears when we explained to Eoin that Draggy only ever closes his eyes if Eoin's eyes were closed. Draggy kept his eyes open if Eoin's eyes were open because Draggy was his special Dragon Friend who would look after him like best buddies do. Thankfully that seemed to work.

Dobby

Since Eoin was a wee little boy he has had a blankee and pacifier. As he grew older he ended up calling them mouth dobby and blue dobby. Eoin has four blur dobbies. Two are older and less soft and two are newer and fuzzy. He prefers the older ones but still needs to have all four for bedtime. Eoin finds the corner of the dobby and then sticks it in his nose and flicks it out.

Mouth dobby is also a very good friend to Eoin. Initially they were used so that he wouldn't suck his bottom lip. When he was born he had such an under bite (or over bit I'm not sure which but his top jaw was bigger then his bottom) his bottom lip was behind his top gum and so he sucked it a lot. On the whole using a pacifier has helped with the lip thing but now we are left with the pacifier in the mouth all the time issue.

On the whole he is very good and never has them when we go out of the house. However when we are home he always runs to get one. We have set the deadline of his last molar coming and then mouth dobbies are for bedtime only. And the ultimate plan is that by Christmas (just after Eoin turns 3) we will have no more mouth dobbies. Blue dobbies can stay around at bedtime for as long as he wants them!

Loft Bed

Eoin has graduated to a loft bed which he absolutely adores. There was no problem at all with the transition in fact we had a tantrum because he had to sleep in his toddler bed for nap the other day before we had made the bed. Eoin and I made the bed together in just a couple of hours. He loved being part of the process and I think Daddy was glad that he didn't have to do it when he got home from work. Climbing up and down hasn't been an issue. Eoin loves playing under the bed and in a few weeks I will have transformed under the bed into a den for him with a cool tent attachment.

Burning off that energy

I k now I have blogged about this already but I have to say that this kiddies elliptical trainer has been one of the best purchases we have made for Eoin in ages. He loves it and lives on it. We set it up in the sitting room so that while Eoin gets his TV time he also gets to exercise. Often he will break off from other activities too to go have a quick exercise.

Exercise

Eoin loved this kid size elliptical trainer when he saw it in the store the other day and frankly we feel in love with the idea of him expending some energy. Today he spent close to two hours playing on it and was more calm having worked off a lot more energy.

We're going on a slug hunt....

......we're not scared! Well not unless they are the 10 inch banana slug variety. Luckily for us we only came across small guys but there was one that was about seven inches long (or so Andy told me ;-)

Crazy Eyelashes

Eoin has always had crazy long gorgeous eyelashes which draw many comments. The other day he learned to use his eyelashes to give a 'butterfly kiss' and so now he is constantly grabbing my hand and trying to kiss me. I love this photo taken today as his eyelashes actually make a shadow on his face - they are truly that long!

My Pet Monster

Our local art store University Art is having it's annual kids art competition. This year's theme was 'My Pet Monster'. The store provided us with the canvas and then Mommy let Eoin have lots of fun with finger paints and glitter. Once the picture was dry Eoin blobbed kid friendly glue on the canvas and stuck the eyes on. Mommy helped cut out the center of the eyes and the tongue and then Eoin continued to have fun with the glue. Eoin called it his "Washing Machine Monster" because he said mixing the paints with his hands was like being a washing machine. Which funnily enough is just where his clothes went right after this little art project!

Little House in the Garden

A good friend of ours gave us this great cardboard house and so this afternoon we enjoyed decorating it. Eoin loved the fact that he could use his markers to draw all over the walls. However on several occassions he disappeared inside the house to decorate himself. Right now he looks loike he has Smurf legs so really hoping a good bath will remove the blue :-)
