Adventures with Teddy

One afternoon after sharing a very short nap with his best buddy Eoin, Teddy decided to go on an adventure. Hand in hand Teddy and Eoin traveled to the train station. In all his excitement Teddy forgot to stay behind the yellow line and many trains piled up into him. Ever the superhero Eoin rushed to Teddy's aid and give him a hug and bandaged his boo boo's up. His buddy thoughtfully made Teddy some soup and even remembered to put the noodles in. Feeling fully recovered the best buddies lost themselves in a game of tower building and spent the afternoon happily ever after.

Niles Canyon Railway

Yesterday we headed out to one of Eoin's favorite locations - Niles Canyon Railway. There was a diesel engine this time which disappointed Eoin a little as he was hoping for a steam engine. However it was a gorgeous warm day so we sat in one of the uncovered carriages and had tons of fun on the ride. Everyone was cooing over Eoin as he had insisted on wearing his train conductor outfit (which is easily an inch too short). Eoin had a blast and we are planning on going back for Memorial Day when they have a steam engine.

While out for a walk today in one of our favorite spots - Moss Beach - we found a great wooden shelter that someone had formed over a natural dip in the ground. A tree had fallen and so there as a hole where the root system had been and then branches and twigs had been used to cocoon the hole. Eoin had so much fun climbing in and out. Daddy even managed to get in with him for a little while.

Finger Painting Madness

At the moment Eoin is loving finger painting and playdoh. Today however (as can be seen from the telltale blue paint around his mouth) he decided to try tongue painting! Luckily for all of us his paints are completely non-toxic!

Hippo Encounter

While in San Diego we of course visited San Diego Zoo. All we can say is WOW! This is the most amazing animal friendly fantastic zoo ever. Eoin was into it so much he walked/ran the whole of San Diego Zoo which is just over 100 acres and has nearly 4000 animals. The fact that we were there for opening at 9am was in our favor. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves for at least the first hour. The best bit of the Zoo was our encounters with the hippos. Just as we got there one of the hippos splashed into the water and came right over to Eoin. They starred at each other for a good 20 minutes. The other bit Eoin still talks about is being able to 'walk under an elephant'. It wasn't a real one of course but he thought it was great to explore a life size elephant sculpture.

Vacation in San Diego

We have just come back from a great week long vacation in San Diego. We stayed in the Mission Bay area and had a little suite that opened up onto a beach that had warm shallow water. Eoin thought having the beach on his doorstep has heaven and he kept telling us that 'he loved his new home'. Eoin spent much of his time chasing the seagulls and running in and out of the water.
He got quite brave in the water and we were happy to let him have fun as we know he can swim a few meters and get himself out of trouble. Despite this though there was one time I had to run in fully dressed in jeans and grab him as he had gulped down some water and was panicking a little.

Back from our hols

Just a quick note to say we are back from our vacation in San Diego. We had an amazing time! It's going to take some time to sort through the photos but watch out there are loads. Hope everyone in the USA has a great Mother's Day. I'm off to sort photos and play with my new camera lens which was a huge Mother's Day surprise.
