Happy Hollow

This morning we headed out to the newly reopened Happy Hollow in San Jose. Eoin wasn't so much into the zoo part (after SF Zoo it is a little of a let down!) but he loved the rides. We rode Danny the Dragon, Ladybug ride, Firetruck Carousel and finally the Frog Hopper. Eoin really wanted to go on the small roller coaster too but he was about to crash so we will have to go back again (not a problem now that we are members). His favorite seemed to be the Frog Hopper in that he wanted to go on it again but he also talked lots about the fire truck ride.

Water Fun

It was such a warm and beautiful day today that an unplanned happy hour (for the adults) and water play (for the kids) came the perfect way to end out day with our neighors. The kids loved the water table until Izzy and Eoin decided to pour buckets of water over themselves!

Big Boy Bike

Today we headed out to get Eoin his first bike. He was way to big for the 12 inch wheel bike and the 16 was just a little too big so we went with a 14 inch wheel 'Go Diego Go' bike. Eoin loved riding it round the store and so after nap we headed to the park where he cycled his new bike all the way round. He got a little nervous when he got too much speed up. He still hasn't quite got the hang of pedaling backwards to stop the bike.

Way to go President Obama!

Phew it was a close run thing for this tax credit but as part of the health care reform bill that President Obama signed yesterday the adoption tax credit has been increased and expanded.
Retroactive to January 1, 2009 the adoption tax credit has been increased by $1,000
(from $12,150 to $13,150).

In 2010 the adoption tax credit will be $13,170.
Furthermore, the tax credit has been extended through December 31, 2011.

This is extremely good news for all adoptive families and really helps make adoption
affordable for so many folks! I truly hope that many new happy families are formed through this.
Thank you President Obama and also thanks to your team!

Seaweed

Sunday while at the beach we found a huge very long piece of seaweed that seemed to have super strength. We played tug of war, jumped rope with it, tied everyone up, had races, made funny shapes with it and still it never broke. So much fun from something we found on the beach - who needs beach toys!

Sand, sand and more sand

We are slowly changing the back yard from being baby friendly into a playzone for a toddler. We filled Eoin's sandpit this weekend with sand instead of plastic balls and we cleaned off the water table. When we first got the sand pit it seemed huge but that our two year old who wears 4T and size 10 shoes is in it it seems tiny!

'One true love'

Here is Eoin taking his friend Izzie for a ride home from the park. These two are inseparable at the moment. Izzie calls Eoin 'her one true love'!

Uncle Peter's visit

Last week Uncle Peter and Aoife arrived for their two week California adventure. Eoin has had a blast with Uncle Peter & Aoife. He is so excited in the mornings to wake up and go find Uncle Peter and have a huge strong guy to run around with!

All Aboard

Eoin's train craziness still continues. Everything that can be used as a train barrier is and everything that has lines is used as a train track including mommy's t-shirt and pot mats!

Eoin also insists on trying to wear the two conductor hats he has at the same time LOL.

Wow!

Last night as we are getting Eoin ready for bed we are chatting and he told us that he grew bigger today. We agreed that he grew. Then he looked me in the face and said 'I grew in Amy's tummy'. Wow! It made me smile so big that he is beginning to understand who his birthmother is and how much she loves him. I love that it is such a natural topic of conversation. We're hoping there will be many many more to come!

Will this teething ever end?

Eoin's two year molars are still coming in. In fact I don't think any of them have actually broken through yet. Eoin keeps kissing his finger and then sucking his finger. When I asked him what he was doing he told me that he was kissing his teeth better.
