Feeling hot, hot, hot...

This weekend has seen near record breaking tempreatures in Palo Alto and so we have been hanging out in the park lots! A group of us got together and bought some cool park toys like a tunnel and play parachute. But the biggest hit has been the water balloons. Hoping it cools down just a little soon!

So proud....

So I just wanted to take time to brag about one of my brothers and to tell the world we are so proud of him! JP is currently in Haiti volunteering for a great Irish charity called 'Haven'. Haven is dedicated to building homes and hope for the impoverished people of Haiti.

JP has been out there for 2 months now and has completed the surveying for the first 50 houses to be built with the hope that another 250 homes will be completed soon. Oh and on top of being a great builder with a huge heart, JP also is an amazing photographer -all the pictures here are taken by him.

Hiding

20 months old

Eoin is 20 months old today and the time has flown. We can't quite believe he is on the home stretch to being 2. But you know at the same time it feels like he has been apart of our family for ever.

Eoin appears to be filling out again so we are guessing that there is a growth spurt about to happen. Big developments this month are

• jumping with both feet and balancing on one foot
  
• using a scooter
• stacking his cups to make a tower
• completing a simple puzzle
• playing with other kids
• can usually tell you if he needs to pee
• can tell you the names of his favorite books

One big break through in behavior for Eoin is 'taking care' of other kids. A few times now I've seen Eoin go and try and help a smaller kid to stand up of they have fallen over or wipe some dirt of them. Very sweet but Eoin does get frustrated when he isn't able to pick the kids up.

His favorite food is now pizza and pretzels closely followed by raspberries and strawberries. Favorite TV is still Caillou but Wonder Pets are gaining in favoritism.

Eoin is still taking one nap a day for around 90 minutes and generally is sleeping through the night from 6.30pm to 6.30am. We are still waiting for those darn canine teeth to break through his gum. I think one may have already but Eoin won't let me near his mouth to check.

Happy Father's Day

We've had a really great day together. First we went to a park in Los Gatos that has a little train and rode on that a couple of times. Then Daddy chilled out during Eoin's nap and planned computer games. We finished the day off with a walk through downtown and dinner at Scotty's. The perfect day!

Keeping us on our toes Part 2

Keeping us on our toes!

Eoin is really becoming adventurous and mischievous. If I don't keep him busy all the time he finds his own ways to be busy. Yesterday in the space of half an hour Eoin achieved quite a few new mischievous things! He climbed up onto the TV cabinet to get the phone and when asked what he was doing he said 'call Daddy'. He then got through the baby proofing and into the CD cupboard.

After the kitchen he used his potty to climb up into the sink and squeeze a tube of toothpaste everywhere.




We also have a huge problem because he can almost open the baby gates and so if we haven't closed them properly he gets in to the kitchen.


After this half hour of craziness we went to the park and ran off all our enegry. We played for ages with the bubbles that we won at the IAC picnic. Luckily after his day of fun Eoin was in bed fast asleep at 6pm!!!

Eoin tried finger painting again today. In the past he hasn't really been to keen but I noticed that he liked to 'draw' with mayo the other day so I thought we'd give the paints another go. He loved it! We'll be sending Eoin's masterpieces to Uncle Joe soon.

Eoin is becoming quite good at some of his puzzles but some still remain a little too complex for him though he tries so hard!

Day at the Zoo

Today we headed up to the San Francisco Zoo. Eoin has a bit of a cold so we weren't too sure how the day would go but he loved every minute of it. The weather much to our surprise was warm and sunny (it was cloudy and damp in Palo Alto!).

Eoin's favorite seemed to be the peacocks, penguins and lemurs. He had fun climbing on the all the creature statues and he also checked out how he compared to a gorilla. Luckily we are a way off yet in the weight and height ;-)

We ended the day by riding the little steam train which Eoin thought was fantastic. We managed to get right up front by the engine. Eoin waved to everyone as we chuffed around the zoo and he thought the little mirror in front of us was hilarious.

All in all a great day out.

In the last couple of weeks Eoin has mastered the climbing of things vertically. Here he is at gymnastics class climbing up the wall so that he can ring the bell.

Wheels, Wheels and more wheels

Eoin like many little boys is obsessed with wheels. This week he finally learned to keep his helmet on and so we got his scooter out which he loves. He can 'scoot' for nearly a block before he tells me he has an 'ouwie' in his leg.

He can almost peddle his tricycle now but prefers just to push himself along with his feet.

Still teething

As you can see from the photo poor Eoin is still teething and has something in his mouth nearly all the time. Those canine teeth just don't want to come through his gum's but he is being very good about it and doesn't complain too much.

Monkey!

Eoin loves to swing from the bar at the top of the slide at our local park. He also does this at gymnastics and will spend a good ten minutes doing this. Eoin really does astound us sometimes with his strength!

One of Eoin's favorite games at the moment is to be chased round the coffee table. He'll come get us and say 'chase' and then run away squealing with laughter.
