Feeding time

In the last week Eoin has really become interested in his bottles. Feeding times have doubled because he is so interested in his bottle! First of all you show him the bottle and he gets all excited and then he tries to use those big hands of his to hold it. He knows the next bit is to get it to his mouth but he hasn't quite worked that one out yet. He has also started chewing on the nipple rather than sucking and then there are the huge smiles he tries to give you with a mouth full of milk. It's just so amazing to see how quickly he is working stuff out and developing. He really is the best thing that ever happened to us!

New tradition

Andy has been traveling for work on and off for the last few weeks but we have started a new tradition. He always calls home right before Eoin goes to bed and we say his night time prayer together

Angel of God, my guardian dear
To whom God's love commits me here,
Ever this night be at my side,
To light, to guard, to rule and guide.
Amen.

We are such big believers in guardian angels that Eoin's lullaby is all about angels watching over him too.

Too many blankees

Can't decide which blankee I want so I'll have both!

New toy

Here's Eoin enjoying his new exersaucer toy that was a gift from friends at church. He thinks it's the best thing ever and loves that he can turn the seat to look at different toys.

Not sure who won the staring competition though Eoin or the hand puppet!

Car Seats

So we have just realized that Eoin is only half an inch from being too tall for his car seat and three pounds off being too heavy. We can't believe that at three months old we are going to have to look at getting another bigger car seat.

It has to be said that I shed a tear or two over this small right of passage. I can't believe how quickly he is growing. I know that he is still a baby but it's just he is growing so quickly! Anyway I think parents are allowed to be sentimental and emotional about these things!

Bouncy Boy

Here's Eoin trying out his door bouncy thingy for the first time (hope the video isn't too shaky). Of course we had to have bouncy music on too! The only problem with this toy is that we have it on the shortest setting and Eoin's already nearly too tall for it (we had him weighed and measured yesterday. He has added another pound and another 1/2 inch).

How big is my mouth

Eoin is beginning to put everything in his mouth now. But on this occasion his mouth just wasn't big enough!

Handsome boy

Here's Eoin admiring himself in the mirror. He will generally talk to himself in the mirror for a good fifteen minutes which lets me get a few chores done.

Tummy time

Eoin use to hate tummy time but we have had a break through in the last couple of days. He is always super happy on his changing table and so we started doing tummy time right after each diaper change (don't know why I didn't think of this before!) and he is really into it now. Two days ago he barely lifted his head up and now look at him almost doing push ups.

The other new and positive change we have made thanks to Sassy's (Grandma's nickname) advice is that we have introduced water into Eoin's routine. He was trying to feed ever two and half hours which was crazy so now we give him water in between feeds and it is working a treat. Guess we just had a thirsty boy.

Bubbles

Think we might have over done it on the bubbles in the bath last night!

Poor Eoin has got a cold again and all he wanted to do is sleep and have hugs (no complaints here!). He even fell asleep in the bath last night.

Three months old!

Where has the time gone! Eoin will be three months old today. He has brought such joy and sunshine to our lives. Being parents is the best thing ever.

Eoin can do so much now. He is nearly sitting up but has shown no interest in rolling over. He smiles tons and has just started laughing properly. He has lots of different sounds and loves singing with us. He loves flirting with the girls and uses his big brown eyes and super curly lashes to his best advantage.

And like most boys he can get some distance when he pees on his back without a diaper (a good 4ft today!).

He is nearly sleeping through the night. We tried to stop his 3am feed and while he did sleep through he was grumpy during the day so for the sake of 30 minutes awake time we've introduced it again. We also stopped swaddling but soon introduced that again as he kept waking himself up by hitting himself in the face.

Eoin's statistics are much the same as a couple of weeks ago - 16 lbs and 25 inches long (95 percentile and 90 percentile).

My favorite new thing though is that Eoin really feels like he is giving us hugs now. He puts both arms around our necks when we pick him up and usually beams at us.

Go Patriots!

Auntie Katie came over today and introduced Eoin to American Football. He stayed awake for the first five minutes and woke up for the last five! But we were happy that the Patriots won. Now we have to keep our fingers crossed that they win the Super Bowl against the New York Giants (gosh I actually sound like I know what I'm taking about!).

Dribbling

We think it might be time for Eoin to have to start wearing bibs. There are days where he just dribbles and dribbles (however never when he is asleep!).

Blankee

Not sure if Eoin is trying to play peek-a-boo or see how much of his blankee he can fit in his mouth at once! He is having so much fun at the moment discovering different textures and using his hands.

Play Date

Today our young friend Jordan came and hung out with us and helped us look after Eoin. She brought her favorite story books to read to Eoin and sang French songs to him. At the end of the day Jordan helped bath Eoin and give him his baby massage. We had a wonderful day.

Time for bed

Eoin has a couple of blankees but he loves his elephant one from his grandparents in Ireland.

Sitting up

For the last couple of weeks Eoin has been increasingly trying to sit up. He won't lie down now unless it's night time or he is on his playmat. Even when we are changing his diaper he is doing tummy crunches. So we got him a Bumbo seat which he seems to love.

Eoin is nearly twelve weeks now and is weighing in at a whopping 16 lbs and 25 inches long! The last three nights he has slept through the night (well almost needs a short cuddle around 3am but no food now), however he has about three 30 minute naps during the day which makes getting things done a little tougher.

Just in the last few days he has started to laugh properly too. It's so great to hear his little chuckle!

He is still talking up a storm and is super smiley except when the camera is around! Other things he loves are the ceiling fan - hours of free entertainment there; going for walks where he charms all the women who come up and say hi; reading story books especially ones with big pictures; and his hands. He has discovered his hands and spends ages just chomping on them. In fact we're not sure if he isn't teething. He is dribbling for England and has two clear white lines on his bottom gum. We're just praying it's not his teeth yet.

Do I have to wake up?

Eoin does these amazing stretches as he is waking up. It is such a miserable day here in Palo Alto that I am sure he didn't want to wake up at all this morning. It is the sort of day where I'm not sure if we are in Ireland or California what with up to 10 inches of rain forecast and gale force winds. Oh well we are going to have a fun day together just chilling out and listening to the rain.

I can talk now!

Eoin is learning from his Mommy fast how to talk up a storm! God help us if he ever kisses the Blarney Stone.

I'm such a big boy...

It's so hard to remember that Eoin is only 10 weeks old. He is so big and active we forget that he is still so young.
He has started to play with his toys (his favorite is a soft face toy that we have nicknamed 'squishy nose face') and talk to us.

He had to have his shots yesterday which went well until about five hours after the shots when he just started screaming and we couldn't comfort him. Eoin is just not a baby who cries, we can go a whole day and not hear him cry so when this went on for four hours and he started to get hot we decided to take him back to the doctors. It turned out he had got his shots right at the beginning of a cold and he was just miserable. His doctor at Urgent Care had the best name ever for a pediatrician - Dr Brave! After some sleep he is much better and almost his old self today.

Paparazzi shots

I love the images you can capture sometimes. I thought this series of shots was very paparazzi like with Eoin trying to push the camera away and then trying to hide.
Eoin's character is really beginning to develop. He is so chatty and smiley but when ever the camera comes out he stops smiling as he gets fixated on the camera and doesn't interact with us. Going to try some tricks over the next few days to see if I can capture him with his different expressions.
